What makes a church strong? Strong in its unity? Strong in its bold stance for truth? Strong in relentless joy? Strong in the face of persecution, suffering, and spiritual attack? These are penetrating questions every American church must wrestle with. And Paul’s letter to his friends in Philippi provides what is necessary to deepen the roots of Christian testimony in the modern world.
It’s the early 60’s – not the 1960’s, but sometime between AD 60 and AD 62. Paul is in a Roman prison. The Philippian church is facing their own version of opposition: from internal unrest and external attacks. Set in a culture where human glory is the highest virtue, Paul calls his friends to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to live as citizens of a heavenly country; one in which humble service is the highest virtue.
Join us as we are challenged through Philippians to advance the gospel in personal life and public witness. Walk with us as we learn to stand firm and stand together for the glory of God.
